Government Center

An iconic Pittsburgh record store and event space fills half the first floor, complimented by an espresso cafe and libations bar. The ambitious scope to renovate & merge three separate brick structures from the 1880's into one cohesive mixed use development demanded significant framing, fire & noise separation, and new utilities throughout - making this a flagship project for EngineHouse as we navigated coordinating many trades and subcontractors to realize the complex goals of the build.

Custom tables, record crates, displays, fixtures, and the espresso bar were designed and fabricated in-house while the original back bar was restored and new red oak flooring installed throughout. Zinc countertops provide an excellent antimicorbial surface that ages and patinas with use to add character to the first floor community space that hosts performances, readings, and conversation - where old friends convene and new friends are found.
